Apple has quietly introduced a Micro USB Adapter for customers living in the United Kingdom, allowing British iPhone owners to do away with the cable bundled inside the original iPhone box and charge their handset using any third-party micro-USB connection.

Apple says to “Use this adapter to connect iPhone to a micro USB cable to sync and charge, or to a micro USB charger to charge.”

In a broader description, the Mac maker reveals that the adapter allows iPhone owners “to use third-party micro USB cables and chargers to sync or charge your iPhone.”

Customers are to simply connect their Apple smartphone to the accessory, and then connect a micro-USB cable or charger. Compatible devices include iPhone 4S, iPhone 4. iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 3G. It goes for £8 (or about 9 EUR / $12) and it’s set to ship October 14th.
