Apple shows availability of Mac OS X v10.6.7 Supplemental Update for 13" MacBook Air (Late 2010)

Apple is quick to address issues with unresponsive MacBook Air computers following the release of Mac OS X 10.6.7, after learning that some users were having trouble with the update when iTunes was launched.

Complaints about the update freezing computers emerged hours into the release of Mac OS X 10.6.7, while all reports had one thing in common - the system exhibiting such issues.

Confirmed as a problem typical to the 13-inch MacBook Air launched by Apple late 2010, the bug was described as follows, by one user reporting her experience on the Apple Discussions forums:

“I have just updated to 10.6.7 all Apps (e.g. Mail, Safari, Parallels) tried so far work fine except iTunes,” MacBook Air user Leslie Bonney wrote.

“Every time I run iTunes 10.2.1 I get as far as the window displaying correctly then within 20 secs the machine freezes and is unresponsive to anything other than a forced shutdown via the power button,” she added.

“I have fixed disk permissions with the same result,” Bonney said.

To address this, and many other complaints like it, Apple has rolled out Mac OS X 10.6.7 Supplemental Update for the 13" MacBook Air (Late 2010).

“This update addresses an issue that makes the system unresponsive when using iTunes,” Apple says.

“It is recommended for all 13" MacBook Air (Late 2010) users running Mac OS X v10.6.7,” according to a technical note posted by the Mac maker on its Support site.

Targeting only 13-inch MacBook Air (Late 2010) users, the minute 461 KB update is immediately available for download using the link below.

In order to apply the update on 13" MacBookAir (Late 2010) configurations, Mac OS X 10.6.7 v1.0 (build 10J869) is first required.
