Although a part of the Mac OS X 10.6.5 update released to Snow Leopard users hours ago, an update to MainStage, as well as the latest Digital Camera RAW Compatibility update are being made available in standalone form on the Apple Downloads web site. Softpedia has the download links as well, in case you’re looking to update.

In addition to providing the general fixes and enhancements typical to major system updates, Apple’s Mac OS X 10.6.5 also includes a new version of MainStage 2, a component of Apple’s Logic Studio music production suite.

MainStage serves as a method of centralizing any virtual instruments that users might have installed on their computers that are normally used in Apple's DAW software Logic Pro for use in live performance.

Talking about MainStage 2.1.2 in particular, Apple notes that several issues have been addressed in the new version of the software. The Mac maker lists them as follows:

- Improved compatibility and stability with MainStage 1.x documents - Better handling of Pitchbend and Sustain events - Performance and stability fixes in Playback

Apple encourages all users of MainStage 2 to update to the new version of the software.

As for the Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 3.4, Apple reveals that it extends RAW image format compatibility to Aperture 3 and iPhoto ’09 for a number of additional cameras from Canon, Hasselblad, Panasonic, and Sony.

These are: Canon EOS 60D; Canon PowerShot S95; Hasselblad H4D-40; Nikon D3100; Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5; Sony DSLR-A290; Sony DSLR-A560; Sony DSLR-A580; Sony SLT-A33; Sony SLT-A55.
