14 DAY TRIAL // Macintosh users wielding a Thunderbolt Display may be required to add another software update if they’re planning to connect their monitor to a system running OS X 10.7.2, the latest version of Apple’s Lion operating system.
According to a technical note on support.apple.com/downloads, Thunderbolt Software Update (OS X Lion) version 1.1 is required to add support for the Apple Thunderbolt Display under OS X 10.7.2. The new patch also delivers bug fixes for Thunderbolt device compatibility.
Earlier this month Apple released OS X 10.7.2 as the second incremental update to Lion adding support for iCloud and several other new features and enhancements.
“The 10.7.2 update is recommended for all OS X Lion users and includes general operating system fixes that improve the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac,” Apple said in early October. “It also includes support for iCloud, a breakthrough set of free cloud services that automatically and wirelessly store your content on iCloud and push it to all of your devices.”
Mac OS X 10.7.2 also includes Safari 5.1.1 and iTunes 10.5. A major part of the update also consists of code corrections. For example, Lion now allows allows reordering of desktop spaces and full screen apps in Mission Control.
Some undocumented features were included as well, such as the larger application icons appearing in Launchpad. The update also enables dragging files between desktop spaces and full screen apps.
Following the 10.7.2 release, Apple rolled out several other patches such as the Thunderbolt Software Update (OS X Lion) 1.1, to ensure full compatibility with new software and hardware (for example, the new iPhone 4S).
Thunderbolt Software Update (OS X Lion) is a 72.53 MB download that applies solely to OS X 10.7.2 Lion.
