Apple has announced the introduction of its brand-new MobileMe Gallery app for iPhone and iPod touch. Featuring iPhone and iPod touch-optimized controls, as well as beautiful gallery displays, the MobileMe Gallery app makes browsing photos and videos easier and more interactive than ever before, according to the Mac maker. As customers would expect, the app is free for MobileMe subscribers and can be downloaded from the iTunes App Store immediately.

“The free MobileMe Gallery app lets you view all the photos and movies published in your gallery with a tap,” Apple explains on the MobileMe section of its website. There, visitors can see that the “MobileMe Gallery on your iPhone and iPod touch” is a new feature added to the service.

“All your albums are beautifully displayed and easy to browse using simple pinch and flick gestures,” the company continues. “If there's a photo you want to share, tap to email a link. The MobileMe Gallery app lets you enjoy friends' photos, too. Just add other MobileMe members to your Friends list and view their galleries as easily as you view your own,” the overview ends.

The people at TUAW gave the app a go and, according to them, it works just as advertised. A few feature highlights (posted below) are also provided in their report.

- View your entire gallery including password protected and hidden albums; - Flick through photos, and pinch and zoom; - Get a landscape view by rotating the phone; - View friends' galleries; - View photos you've already accessed when you are offline; - Send a gallery link to friends directly from the iPhone.

Apple’s new MobileMe Gallery app requires iPhone OS 3.1 or later, and is localized in English, French, German, and Japanese. It works with both iPhone and iPod touch (all models) and is immediately available. Use the link below to get it. Come back after using the app and tell us what you thought of it.
