Apple today has released new iMacs with built-in VESA Mount Adapters sold at $40 (€30 EUR) above the original asking price. The systems start at $1,339 in the US and sell for €1,389 across the EU.

The new iMacs with Built-in VESA Mount Adapters come in both 21.5-inch and 27-inch configurations.

Unlike previous models, the Late-2012 iMac did not officially support standard VESA mounts. Which is why an adapter was in order. Today, people who have such mounts at home can now fit a new-generation iMac onto them.

All they need to do is shell out $1,339 / €1,389 for the entry-level model. The high-end version sells for a wallet-burning $2,039 / €2.089.

“The iMac with Built-in VESA Mount Adapter is ready to pair with your favorite VESA-compatible wall mount, desk mount, or articulating arm (sold separately),” Apple says.

The company carefully points out that, “This iMac doesn't include a stand, so a mount is required. If you don't already have a mount, you can purchase one when you configure your iMac.”

In other words, don’t just buy one of these babies thinking you’ll be able to stick one to an empty wall when you get home.

Note that the computers come with VESA Mount Adapters, not VESA mounts. A stand is also not included, which means you can’t even put it on your desk.

The iMacs include 90 days of free telephone technical support and a one-year limited warranty.

Customers who purchase the AppleCare Protection Plan can extend their coverage to three years from the original purchase date.

The standard iMac packs a 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz), 8GB (two 4GB) of RAM, a 1TB hard drive, and NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M graphics with 512MB of VRAM.
