After updating its video production software, Apple today released a new version of Logic Pro X, the company’s music production suite packed with tools for professional songwriting, editing, and mixing.

Logic Pro X 10.0.5 adds three new Drummers and 11 new Drum Kit Designer patches, as well as some major enhancements to Channel EQ and Linear Phase EQ plug-ins. These changes include redesigned interfaces and quick access from Smart Controls.

Musicians who regularly use Solo will be glad to learn that the function should now work as expected on channel strips using an External I/O plug-in, while automation (for panning and volume) is now included with Final Cut Pro X in XML interchange, according to Apple. Other Logic Pro X 10.0.5 highlights are listed below.

• Loops that belong to the same family can be selected and changed using a new control in the region header • The waveform size in an audio region now adapts to the value of the region Gain parameter • The Link mode button is now available for the Piano Roll editor • Includes stability improvements

According to Apple, “Logic Pro X is the most advanced version of Logic ever. Sophisticated new tools for professional songwriting, editing and mixing are built around a modern interface that’s designed to get creative results quickly and also deliver more power whenever it’s needed.”

“Logic Pro X includes a massive collection of instruments, effects and loops, providing a complete toolkit to create amazing-sounding music,” the Cupertino giant adds.

The minimum system requirements are 4GB of RAM, a display with a 1280x768 resolution (or higher), OS X v10.8.4 (Mountain Lion) or later, 64-bit Audio Units plug-ins, and a minimum 5GB of disk space.
