Update also addresses minor issues with performance and stability

Apple doesn't update its professional photography software very often, but when it does, the changes are usually massive.

One wouldn’t say this about Aperture 3.2.3, a minor release that basically deals with an annoyance, rather real issues with the program.

We’re talking about iCloud’s Photo Stream, and its inability to clear out photos residing on a computer or iDevice in that particular module.

To appease users who desperately wanted the ability to delete individual Photo Stream pics, Apple included this “fix” in iOS 5.1. For avid users of the Photo Stream function, this was an important change.

The tweak also went inside the desktop implementation of iPhoto with the release of iPhoto 9.2.2 for Mac OS X, and now you can also find it in the new Aperture 3.2.3, alongside some performance and stability improvements that Apple doesn’t feel like elaborating on:

For people who hadn’t yet updated to the earlier Aperture 3.2, Apple includes the change log as part of this new release.

The update was released in December this year and included compatibility fixes for iCloud and iOS 5, resolved an issue that could cause the "Loading" indicator to reappear in the Viewer when cropping a photo, and enabled the app to automatically relaunch into Full Screen mode if it had been quit that way.

Other changes include:

· Pinch-to-zoom gesture now automatically activates Zoom mode in the Viewer · Left and right swipe gestures can now be used to navigate between photos in the Viewer · Microsoft Outlook can now be chosen in Preferences as the application used by Aperture for emailing photos · Fixes a problem that could cause Aperture, running on OS X Lion, to quit unexpectedly when using brushes to apply adjustments · Loupe now correctly displays magnification levels between 50-100% · Fixes an issue that could cause Aperture, running on OS X Lion, to display the incorrect color profile on externally edited images · Import window now includes an option to delete photos from iPhone and iPad after they have been imported into Aperture · The Lift & Stamp tool now displays the correct cursor icons when being used in Split View and Viewer only modes

Aperture 3.2.3 weighs in at 635.54 MB and is provided as a free software update to all users of Aperture 3. It goes onto systems running Mac OS X 10.6.8 (Snow leopard) or OS X Lion 10.7.3 or later and is localized in several different languages, including Deutsch, English, Français, and Chinese.

Apple stresses on its Support site that “The update is recommended for all users of Aperture 3.”

Strangely, the Mac maker’s website lists the Aperture 3.2.3 release on March 6th, whereas the update was pushed out just hours ago.
