One of the problems brought along by constant innovation is the fact that devices that are only one or two generations old become obsolete, the only way of extending their functioning life involving the use of various adapters, and this exact situation is currently affecting the owners of slightly older Macs who want to benefit from the advantages provided by Apple's latest Cinema Displays.

So, in order to lend a helping hand to this category of users, connectivity solutions' manufacturer Kanex has introduced several adapters, starting with the Kanex C247m, an adapter designed for previous generations of MacBook and Mac mini with mini-DVI video output that combines audio and video to Apple LED Cinema 24-inch and 27-inch displays. Next in line comes the Kanex C247d, that has been designed to work with PC or Macs with DVI video output and converts and combines audio and video to Apple LED Cinema 24-inch and 27-inch displays. Both adapters extend the desktop as a secondary or mirror display to increase productivity, are USB powered and provide an audio pass-through to Mini DisplayPort and USB output, as well as an USB 2.0 pass-through for iSight camera and other USB functions. The last adapter presented by Kanex (this time around) is the Kanex C30, that has been designed for use with the Apple Cinema Display 30-inch and other displays with Dual-Link DVI-D, being able to converts Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI-D at a max resolution 2560x1600. As you've been able to see up until now, all of these adapters can prove to be extremely useful for users looking to benefit from the wider diagonal sizes and improved image quality provided by the Apple LED displays, but, similar to most other Apple-related accessories, they don't come exactly cheap. As Kanex informs us, both the Kanex C247m and the Kanex C247d have a MSRP of $129 and will be available in November 2010, while the Kanex C30 is slightly more affordable, selling for roughly 99 US dollars as we speak.
