Although many of you might be tempted to believe that Apple has decided to tackle the field of TV sets, which is already way too crowded, we'll have to tell you that this is not exactly the case, since we're only talking here about a new product from Hannspree that's shaped just like the famous fruit. So, the company has just announced a new line of 28-inch 1080p LCD HDTVs available in time for the holidays, two out of the three new HDTVs released being in distinctive shapes: apple (HannsApple28) and basketball (HannsBasketball28).

These models incorporate a 360-degree design so no matter which angle you view the product, the design preserves the theme, while the third HDTV released keeps with the modern sleek piano-black bezel design.

The HDTVs from Hannspree allow the viewing aspect ratio to be set to 16:9 format for Full HD 1080p resolution or an aspect ratio of 16:10 to utilize full 28" screen space for 1920x1200 monitor use.

Other shared features include the 10,000:1 X-Contrast Ratio, the 2x HDMI, YPbPr, S-Video, Composite, VGA inputs, the ATSC, NTSC, Clear QAM built-in tuners, as well as the 10Wx2 speaker system.

"Our new novelty televisions capture the essence of a bold and powerful creative mind that can extend personal expression to routine items. By offering an affordable line of HDTVs along with the premium design HDTVs, Hannspree gives consumer plenty of choices based on their needs and preferences," said James Fitzgerald, Sr. Director of Marketing and Sales.

The affordably priced 28" ST289MUB LCD HDTV is available at various retailers, so pricing might vary from one case to the next, but we can tell you for sure that the premium-designed HannsApple28-ST28FMUR and HannsBasketball28-ST285MUB LCD HDTVs are available exclusively through Hannspree retail stores at $499.99, which is a rather OK price point, given the fact that, after all, we're talking about some specialty items here.
