Apple has recently issued an update to the mega security software package rolled out earlier this month. The update is available for Leopard (Security Update 2008-002 1.1 - 51MB) and Leopard Server (Apple Security Update Server 2008-002 1.1 - 109MB). It addresses some issues with the "Printer Settings" button in Aperture 2.0, on Macs running Mac OS X v10.5.2.

"Security Update 2008-002 is recommended for all users
and improves the security of Mac OS X. Previous security updates have been incorporated into this security update," says Apple.

As usual, the Cupertino-based company doesn't offer specifics at first glance.

Earlier this month, Apple issued a new security update for Mac OS X users. The update was made available for both Mac OS X 10.4.11 (Tiger) and Mac OS X 10.5.2 (Leopard) users, addressing vulnerabilities that could lead to arbitrary code execution, or enable a local user to execute arbitrary code with system privileges. The update is aimed at over 80 (most of which critical) issues. The must-perform update weighs in at around 104MB.

Mac owners should always make sure that they have the latest security updates and system improvements on their Mac computer.

Apple uses SHA-1 digests on Apple Featured Software so you can verify (with a high degree of probability) that the software you've downloaded is the same software you intended to download (see Related documents below). When the SHA-1 digest for the file you downloaded matches the digest for the file as displayed on Apple Featured Software, you can be sure that the file is authentic. SHA-1 digest performs automatic verification for updates delivered by Automatic Software Update.

Back to Security Update 2008-002 1.1, Apple says that no applications other than Aperture 2.0 are affected.

You can either click HERE to download and install the update or do it "the Apple way" and just follow the Software Update path under the Apple button.
