Minutes ago, Apple informed that China residents are getting the company’s tablet computer come September 17. The Wi-Fi-only version of the device will be available for in-store pickup from Apple’s retail establishments, as well as from Apple Authorized Resellers.

The official announcement reads: “Apple today announced that the Wi-Fi models of its magical iPad will be available to customers in China from Apple Retail Stores, and select Apple Authorized Resellers, on Friday, September 17 starting at 10:00 a.m.”

Apple’s press release continues with a description of the flagship features its iPad is now notorious for, including the ability to download a variety of content from the iTunes App Store, browse the web in a most intuitive manner, read and write email, enjoy viewing and sharing photos, watching HD video, music playback, book reading etc.

“iPad allows users to connect with their apps and content in a more intimate, intuitive and fun way than ever before,” Apple says.

“Users can browse the web, read and send email, enjoy and share photos, watch HD videos, listen to music, play games, read ebooks and much more, all using iPad’s revolutionary Multi-Touch user interface,” the Mac maker notes.

The report also mentions a few physical characteristics, including size, and weight, as well as details on the iPad’s battery life span in various circumstances.

“iPad Wi-Fi models are just 0.5 inches thick and weigh just 1.5 pounds—thinner and lighter than any laptop or netbook—and deliver up to 10 hours of battery life for surfing the web on Wi-Fi, watching videos or listening to music, and up to nine hours of surfing the web,” the report reads.

The Cupertino, California giant also promises to offer free Personal Setup service to every customer buying an iPad at the Apple Retail Store.

The service includes such benefits as setting up email, loading apps from the App Store, and more.

“Apple Retail Stores in China are also hosting special iPad workshops to help customers learn more about this magical new product,” Apple added.

Chinese residents will be able to pick one up for CNY3988 for the 16GB model, CNY4788 for 32GB of storage, and CNY5588 for the 64GB version of the iPad.

The company ends the announcement with a reminder that more countries are on its list for receiving the iPad. According to the report, Apple will announce availability and local pricing for these additional territories at a later date.
