Jefferies analyst says his checks suggest the iWatch has a better chance of materializing

The iTV isn’t happening this year, according to a research note from Jefferies analyst Peter Misek. The launch has been postponed, Misek said, because panel suppliers (LG and Sharp) are having yield rate troubles.

"We had thought that Apple's software and ecosystem would be enough to drive demand but our checks indicate that Apple wants the hardware to also stand out," the analyst said in a research note, according to CNet. "We believe Apple wants a display that looks like 4K/Ultra HD but without the super-premium cost."

And that can’t be achieved this year, Misek said. The analyst, which has a fairly positive track record on Apple predictions, says his firm has made some new checks with the Cupertino giant’s suppliers.

Based on these checks, Misek said there’s a 50+ percent chance that Apple will indeed roll out an iWatch this year. What do you know, I could be an analyst.

He added that the device will retail around $200 / €150 and that it will sport a 1-inch display.
