OS X Mavericks is the third installment to leave out the Save As function

Two years ago when OS X Lion came out I installed the first developer build released by Apple and discovered with extreme frustration that the company had phased out one of the oldest features in computing – “Save As.”

Two years and two OS X iterations later, Save As is nowhere to be found. Apple has been reluctant to admit this was a mistake, and OS X Mavericks continues to annoy me with Exporting options.

The web is chock-full of forum posts discussing the issue. Softpedia was among the first (if not the actual first) to report the axing of Save As two years ago, and while most of the readers sided with us, Apple wouldn’t hear it.

So there you have it. OS X 10.9 Mavericks continues to leave out Save As, which means it’s safe to say we’ll probably never see this function return to the Mac any time soon.
