Apple has updated its Paid Applications Agreement introducing a new type of pricing - for apps sold as a bulk.

Devs making a living by selling software in Apple’s App Store are being notified that if they want to sell their apps to business in volume at a discount, they will be able to do so, once they sign the new Paid Applications Agreement.

“Get ready today. Business customers will soon be able to buy your aps in volume,” Cupertino tells iOS devs via email.

“Click through the latest Paid Applications Agreement so that your apps will be offered for sale when the Volume Purchase Program is available to businesses,” Apple adds.

The App Store Volume Purchase Program allows educational institutions to buy iOS apps in volume and distribute the apps to their users.

For an organization with hundreds of members, it’s easier to just apply for a bulk purchase, rather than have each person access the App Store and buy the software manually.

Apple continues: “Through the Volume Purchase Program, you’ll be able to sell custom B2B apps to your business customers. Custom B2B apps provide tailored solutions to address specific business needs. Get a head start on developing custom B2B apps today.”

So, here’s how it works, according to Apple.

With the App Store Volume Purchase Program, educational institutions can buy Volume Vouchers using a purchase order, credit card, or PCard.

The vouchers are then to be used to purchase iOS apps in volume.

Instead of searching for the title on the App Store themselves, end users simply redeem the codes they receive and download the purchased app (or apps) automatically.

Institutions that are tax exempt will not be charged a sales tax when apps are purchased.

In accordance with the rules of the program, application developers can offer special pricing for purchases of 20 apps or more.
