Apple has introduced a number of new hardware products today, including a new line of desktop computers, a bigger, 27-inch Cinema Display, new Mac Pros, and the all-new Magic Trackpad, which, in Apple’s own words, “brings the intuitive Multi-Touch gestures of Mac notebook trackpads to the desktop.” Apple doesn’t mention this in any of today’s press releases but, the company has also introduced the first battery charger designed at 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, California.

The new Magic Trackpad was confirmed through a secondary announcement in one of Apple’s latest press releases. After announcing the new Core i-configurations for its all-in-one desktop Macs, the company revealed that a new, Multi-Touch-powered peripheral was also available from Apple, starting today.

“Every iMac comes with Apple’s innovative Magic Mouse and customers can also order the new Magic Trackpad as an option,” reads the announcement. “The Magic Trackpad brings the intuitive Multi-Touch gestures of Mac notebook trackpads to the desktop. With its glass surface, the wireless Magic Trackpad enables users to scroll smoothly up and down a page with inertial scrolling, pinch to zoom in and out, rotate an image with their fingertips and swipe three fingers to flip through a collection of web pages or photos. The Magic Trackpad can be configured to support single button or two button commands and supports tap-to-click as well as a physical click.”

Elsewhere on the Mac maker’s web site, the new Apple Battery Charger is shown in all its glory. According to Apple, the charger has the lowest standby power usage value, setting new standards for the industry  - “…the Apple Battery Charger senses when its batteries are done charging and automatically reduces the amount of power it needs,” Cupertino explains. “In addition, the reusable batteries that come with each Apple Battery Charger are designed to maintain a high charge capacity for hundreds of charges, so you no longer have to buy new batteries or toss them every few months.”

The device ships not with two, but with six rechargeable AA NiMH batteries which, according their makers, “have an incredibly long service life — up to 10 years.”
