At today’s special launch event Apple unveiled a plurality of new products, including the company’s “most radical Mac ever,” the completely redesigned Mac Pro.

Apple’s circular Mac Pro is designed around a unified thermal core and features the newest Intel Xeon processors with up to 12 cores, dual workstation-class graphics processors, six Thunderbolt 2 ports, PCIe-based flash storage, and fast ECC memory.

The Cupertino giant is really proud of the cooling system which allows the device to share thermal capacity across chips.

Apple says it’s as quiet as a Mac mini. The enclosure is just 9.9 inches tall and one-eighth the volume of the previous Mac Pro workstation.

Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said, “The new Mac Pro is our vision for the future of the pro desktop, everything about it has been reimagined and there has never been anything like it.”

The new Mac Pro will be available in December, starting at $2,999 (€2,176).
