Remember that yesterday we told you that Apple might be looking to introduce a new MacBook Pro and a shiny new iMac on May 20? Well, the Cupertino tech giant has actually unveiled said products a few days ahead of schedule.

Let’s have a look at each of them and see what novelties they bring to the table in terms of pricing and specifications.

Apple upgrades the 15-inch MacBook Pro

The new MacBook Pro is a device of the 15-inch variety and takes advantage of the fresh Force Touch technology that’s slowly making its way into the MacBook line (it’s currently available on the new MacBook with Retina display).

As was to be expected, Apple bumped up specs for the new device, just like it did with its 13-inch sibling, meaning that customers will be able to take advantage of faster flash storage, longer battery life, and improved graphic performance.

The new MacBook Pro arrives in two configurations with quad-core Intel Core i7 processors clocked at either 2.2GHz or 2.5GHz, paired with 16GB of RAM memory and Iris Pro Graphics cards.

The new PCIe-based flash storage provides up to 2.5 times the performance of its predecessor, and the battery will be able to offer 9 hours of web browsing. There’s also a discrete graphics option, in the form of the AMD Radeon R9 M370X GPU.

The standard 2.2GHz model with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of flash and Intel Iris Pro will cost you $1,999 / €1,793, while the high-end model with 16GB of RAM, 512GB SSD and AMD Radeon GPU will sell for $2,499 / €2,242.

Apple offers the option of custom add-ons with additional quad-core Intel processors and up to 1TB of flash storage.

What changed on the new iMac?

As for the new iMac with a 27-inch 5K display (5,120 x 2,880 pixel resolution), the model arrives with a quad-core Intel Core i5 chip clocked at 3.3GHz and fitted with 8GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Apple also throws in an AMD Radeon R9 M290 graphics card, and prices for the device start at $1,999 / €1,793.

There’s also a high-end option that starts at $2,299 / €2,062 and adds a 3.5GHz quad-core Intel Core i5 processor with Turbo Boost speeds up to 3.9GHz, AMD Radeon R9 M290X and 1TB of Fusion Drive (combination between flash memory and traditional hard disk drive).

Both products are currently available for purchase from the official Apple store.
