New MacBook Air models known to be suffering from display issues when waking from sleep are apparently targeted by the 10.6.5 software update released on November 10. Apple encourages owners of a Late 2010 MBA to download and install Mac OS X 10.6.5 in order to resolve these issues.

Soon after the launch of its new MacBook Air computers, Apple started receiving complaints regarding the visual experience, with most of the affected customers signaling screen flickering  issues.

Apple soon acknowledged the flaw and promised to deploy a software update to alleviate the problems. The patch is apparently included in the recent Mac OS X 10.6.5 system-wide software update for Snow Leopard.

Apple failed to document this fix in the official release notes for OS X 10.6.5. However, the Mac maker does confirm its inclusion via a new Support document posted to the Apple.com web site recently.

Technote TS3589, titled “MacBook Air (Late 2010): Video anomalies after waking from sleep”, describes the exact same problems signaled by early MBA (Late 2010) adopters.

“After waking from sleep, your MacBook Air display may flicker or fade from light to dark repeatedly.”

The document lists MacBook Air (11-inch, Late 2010), and MacBook Air (13-inch, Late 2010) as the affected products.
