Media gathering reportedly focused on publishing, maybe advertising

An event targeting publishing and advertising has been scheduled by Apple in New York, with SVP of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue reportedly being involved.

Citing multiple solid sources, the WSJ-owned AllThingsD reports that Apple’s January event isn’t going to yield an iPad 3.

An Apple TV announcement is also unlikely, says the blog. Which leaves “some kind of advertising or even publishing announcement."

This belief also stems from additional information that Apple’s SVP of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue is involved with the event somehow.

Cue has been responsible for the launch of News Corp.’s iPad-exclusive digital magazine, The Daily. The man is in charge of multiple divisions at Apple, including the iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and the iAd and iCloud platforms.

It is also known that Apple has iAd offices in NY. However, the company refused to comment on the rumor.
