A job posting over at Apple’s website suggests the company’s camera-less tablet is about to get the necessary video-capable hardware. Whether it’s going to be a minor revision of the iPad, or the second-generation model, remains to be seen. However, we will need more than just a job description to confirm that the iPad is even getting a camera. Apple is believed to have left out the camera feature in order to include it in a v. 2.0 iPad, for added hype.

MacRumors points out the actual page on Apple’s site, where the Mac maker explains that its Media Systems team needs “a software quality engineer with a strong technical background to test still, video and audio capture and playback frameworks.” The position is specifically focused on the “iPad Media” segment of the division, according to the aforementioned news source. “Build on your QA experience and knowledge of digital camera technology (still and video) to develop and maintain testing frameworks for both capture and playback pipelines,” the description goes. Apple then enumerates this person’t responsibilities.

“The successful candidate for this role is a team-oriented professional with excellent communication skills, comfortable in a fast-paced environment, and possessing good testing and programming skills,” the company adds, trying to paint a picture of the ideal candidate. “Familiarity with and interest in photography, video as well as media file formats is highly desirable. Experience with tuning of and image pipeline, including, but not limited to AWB, Color Correction, AutoExposure, FrameRate adjustments is a plus. You are proficient with shell scripting perl/phyton and familiar with basic Unix command shell. You ideally have a programming background, C/C++,” Apple says.

As usual, the candidate is required to know their stuff, having a B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience; 3+ years experience in Software QA; excellent written and verbal communication skills; familiarity with Mac OSX, Unix, Xcode is a plus; solid fundamental knowledge of software testing techniques, methodologies and practices; good solid knowledge of photography, various video and audio media formats; knowledgeable with lighting, whether artificial or ambient and how it affects image quality; ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work accordingly; experience developing complete unit tests and C API tests desired.
