With one day to go before Apple lifts the cloth off its new tablet computers, sources are telling the Wall Street Journal that a Retina iPad mini is in the cards for this year’s refresh, alongside a lighter and thinner fifth-generation (full-size) iPad.
The newspaper, generally accurate in its reporting on upcoming releases from Apple, reveals that “Apple is now readying a revamped iPad Mini with a high-resolution ‘retina’ display.”
The Cupertino giant is also reportedly bringing to the table “a thinner, lighter version of its standard 9.7-inch iPad, using a thin film instead of the glass found in existing models.” This information was obtained from part suppliers (likely based in China).
A separate report from the publication, this time dished out through the All Things D site, indicates that Apple will also unveil a new range of MacBook Pro computers with faster Haswell processors and extended battery life. The graphics sector is also being improved.
