So Maclocks created the first lock solution for the new computer

Apple’s decision to do away with the Kensington security slot in favor of a more streamlined design in the new MacBook Pro has led Maclocks, a leader in Apple security and display accessories, to introduce its MacBook Pro Lock (Retina lock) and Security Case bundle.

Becoming the first company to develop and sell a complete security solution for Apple's new MacBook Pro, Maclocks already has a well-established reputation for introducing an alternative way to secure slim devices.

They were also the first to deliver an iPad Lock, and they have the only viable MacBook Air Lock, according to the company’s website.

Now, they wanted to do the same for the elusive MacBook Pro with Retina display, which costs no less than $2,199 in its low-end configuration (though one can hardly call this computer low-end when it packs 8 gigs of ram and 256GB of flash storage).

Apple’s decision to axe the Kensington security lock (basically just a hole in the unibody enclosure) is said to have created a new challenge for corporations expected to deploy the system, as there’s no way to secure it.

Maclocks is solving this problem with the new MacBook Pro Lock (Retina lock) and Security Case bundle, which retails for $69.95 / €56.

In fact, the smart skin mechanism is said to enhance the current venting system by slightly elevating the MacBook Pro above the standing surface.

“We have been working alongside Apple which has made a real revolutionary change with the new MacBook Pro design setting a new standard in performance and portability for pro users and Maclocks is committed to keep its security product offering up to date,” said Alexander Gad, Maclocks GM.

“According to the FBI, a laptop is stolen every two minutes - that requires a fast solution to an epidemic situation. Our customers expect us to step up to the plate and be the first to provide a viable anti- theft solution,” he said.
