You can now order Google’s $1,300 / €1,000 Chromebook Pixel laptop, which delivers a more or less compelling experience, but admittedly has the highest pixel count of any laptop out there. And it’s giving Apple a bit of trouble with their marketing.

In a rare move, Apple in Cupertino, California has been forced to retract a claim regarding its notebooks’ sleek Retina display, as it is no longer “the highest-resolution notebook ever.”

That moniker is now reserved to the Chromebook Pixel (although Google doesn't seem to overstate it), which is a laptop that brings together the best in hardware, software, and design to inspire future innovation.

It’s also a notebook that boasts what can be considered today the highest-resolution display. Which meant Apple had to scrub its “highest-resolution notebook ever” claim from the MacBook Pro marketing pages.

The MacBook Pro page on Apple.com now states, “High performance has never been so well defined.”
