Owners of Apple’s new-generation 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display are being instructed to download and install a new software update that enhances their computer’s wireless and wired connections, as well as HDMI output.

Recommended for all 13-inch MacBook Pros with Retina display (Late 2012 models), MacBook Pro Retina EFI Update v1.1 “improves sleep performance, enhances Thunderbolt router support, fixes an HDMI display issue, and improves compatibility when using the 5GHz band in Wi-Fi,” Apple says.

As usual, the Mac maker includes the Boot ROM / SMC version information that needs to crop up after applying the update: build version 0106.03; ROM version MBP102.88Z.0106.B03.1211161133.

Averaging 5 MB in size, MacBook Pro Retina EFI Update v1.1 applies to OS X 10.8.1 Mountain Lion and requires EFI version 0106.01.
