Apple is planning to train retail employees on the problems surrounding unionization. The initiative was likely spawned after news broke out in May that some of the company’s staffers believed they were not compensated properly for their hard work.

According to documents obtained by Cnet, the course seeks “to provide managers with a practical understanding of how unions affect the workplace, how and why employees organize, and the legal do’s and don’ts of dealing with unions.”

The class is mandatory. All new managers are to attend and, starting this year, it will be a biannual affair.

The aforementioned Apple Retail Workers Union called upon the Cupertino giant for offering poor compensation to its part time employees in particular.

The union also sought to draw attention to deficiencies in Apple's "break schedules, training opportunities," and "the selection and hiring process for internal candidates for open positions."
