International Trade Commission sides with Motorola in patent case filed November 2010

The U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has issued a preliminary ruling in a patent case involving Apple Inc. and Motorola stating that the latter’s smartphones do not violate the patents at heart

Although the ITC’s preliminary decision still requires approval by the entire panel, it appears that the regulatory body is siding with Motorola in the case filed November 2010, when the ITC agreed to investigate Apple's claims of patent infringement.

Had Apple won an exclusion order, Motorola would have been barred from importing and selling the respective hardware and software that allegedly infringed on the Mac maker’s patents.

Also worth noting is that both companies are also fighting Samsung, Microsoft, and Eastman Kodak in similar patent suits filed with the ITC.
