As it continues to improve its iCloud-based mapping service, Apple has added two major new cities to its 3D Flyover feature: Cape Town and Helsinki.

An iCloud-based mapping service kickstarted by Apple with the release of iOS 6 in 2012, Apple Maps was initially an ill-fated effort that seemed to cast a favorable light on alternate mapping services, including Google’s.

Since then, the Cupertino giant has made considerable efforts to improve the service, and it has constantly added updated information, complete with 3D maps for major cities around the world.

Over the past year, the company has brought over a dozen new cities to its 3D Flyover feature in Maps, and now two more have been added: Cape Town (South Africa) and Helsinki (Finland).

Since the release of Mavericks last year, Apple Maps has been available on both iOS and OS X.
