We have every indication that Apple is preparing a launch event for the spring period, during which it may also unveil iOS 8.2, the upcoming major update for iPhone and iPad customers.

During the past few weeks, Apple has provided the media with some clues pertaining to its short-term plans with the iOS ecosystem, and the latest rumors seem to confirm suspicions that an event is being planned. It is worth noting that the company has historically held events in the spring period, releasing hardware upgrades and even all-new products.

iOS 8.2 to roll out in March

A source who has been reliable in the past tells BGR that iOS 8.2 shouldn’t roll out any sooner than March, but also doesn’t mention a later date. iOS 8.2 is known for its focus on Apple Watch integration (WatchKit) and development support for Glances and other wrist-centric utilities.

There’s no reason not to trust that this claim is accurate, especially considering this other rumor regarding Apple needing some third-party apps to show off by the end of February. For what it’s worth, Tim Cook has stated during Apple’s latest earnings call that his company plans to debut the wearable in April.

Apple Watch showcase

Since Apple is demanding apps by the end of this month to help demo the watch’s potential, it’s pretty obvious that we’re in for at least a demo before the thing hits the shelves. Moreover, the source leaking the iOS 8.2 info also anticipates a showcase of some sort.

It wouldn’t be too farfetched for Apple to start dishing out invitations as early as this month, considering other hardware releases reportedly planned for this year, such as the rumored iPad Pro, or the 12-inch MacBook Air.

Plus, since the summer-bound WWDC is traditionally reserved for software announcements only, there’s almost a 100% chance Apple will hold at least one hardware event until then.
