A Reddit user is reporting that Apple now allows people to download a “compatible” version of an app if the newest version isn't suitable for their respective iOS version.

With the impending launch of iOS 7 tomorrow, many apps will gain full support for the new software, leaving older iOS versions behind. But some developers are sensing a need to continue to support iOS 6 and older versions, and Apple is allowing them to distribute their apps accordingly.

A screenshot published by user AutumnStrings (via r/jailbreak) depicts a dialog window which states, “The current version requires iOS 5.0 or later, but you can download the last compatible version.”

The message, new to iOS, most likely means that Apple will store numerous duplicate apps on its iCloud servers, for all the customers who will refrain themselves from making the jump to iOS 7 tomorrow.
