Quoted by a blog dealing with Apple news and rumors, a person allegedly on Apple's payroll said that Apple’s event today will include two major announcements - MobileMe revamp and the iPad 2 - but that the real excitement will be when Apple unveils iPad 3 later this year.

According to the alleged Apple staffer, MobileMe users will be treated to cloud storage features (as previously rumored), while iPad 2 is a mere speed bump, not a redesign, Cultofmac.com reports.

This person reportedly elaborated on the MobileMe update, saying it will store music, TV shows, and films that customers acquire form the iTunes store.

The staffer added that Apple was looking into allowing customers to upload their content to the cloud, regardless of its origin, but suggested that such plans have not yet been finalized.

Weighing in on the iPad, the alleged Apple employee reportedly said, “For the iPad 2 don’t get your hopes up too high. That’s all I’m going to say. They’ve had a number of problems along the way, and the third-generation iPad is the one to make a song and a dance about.”

As Softpedia readers may recall, this is not the first time iPad 3 makes the news before Apple even gets to take the cloth off its second-generation of tablets.

And, as previous rumors said, the iPad 3 would arrive when competitors fear it the most - Fall 2011, when a horde of fledging devices will try to make a name in the tablet market (some at their second attempt).

Also interesting are the staffer’s comments regarding the iPad 2 - how it’s not something to get excited about, and that Apple has been having trouble getting it out the door in its originally planned form.

Readers should be skeptical about some of the claims dished out in the Cultofmac, as their veracity cannot be verified just yet.
