ifoAppleStore is reporting that prices on Apple products available at on-line resellers are dropping below the only discount offered by the company headquartered in Cupertino, California, particularly those available for education customers.

According to the news source dealing with everything Apple Store, both the online and the brick & mortar aspects, “the battle for customers among Apple retailers is heating up, with prices posted at on-line resellers dropping below the only discount that Apple offers–for education customers.” One reseller in particular, MacMall, “has 'slashed' prices to Black Friday levels again for a limited time, and virtually all are below Apple’s educational discount,” reads the report.

Amazon.com is also teaching Apple a lesson in manners, cutting up to six percent off the products' original prices, throwing in a $100 rebate on Macbook Pro models too. A “slight discount on iMacs,” was also spotted at the popular online retailer, while Mac Pros are seeing reductions of as much as 7 percent from their original price. A chart is available below.

Note: viewers must factor in sales tax for Apple stores, Amazon.com (five states) and MacMall (three states), and any shipping for the on-line resellers (Apple is free).

Needless to point out, Apple gets a cut of every sale, since the Macs don't come from anywhere else but its own warehouses.

College students, teachers, administrators, or staff members of any grade level qualify for special pricing on Apple computers, software, and select third-party products. All people eligible to purchase from the Apple Store for Education Individuals include faculty, staff, students and parents. Besides K12 and Higher Education staffers, who may or may not choose to buy from anyone but Apple itself, Higher Education Parents may be wise to consider opting for online reseller discounts this time around.
