Little Artist Canvas gets banned from iTunes for offering hidden functionality

A new iPhone app has passed Apple’s net and then quickly got banned after the company learned that it offered hidden functionality that went against its guidelines.

Little Artist Canvas was released in the App Store as a free download, and it was marketed as a simple drawing app. However, as AppAdvice discovered, the software also included a Tethering function which allowed users to route their cellular Internet through a computer.

The practice is frowned upon, unless you pay the necessary fee to have it unlocked by your operator. As such, Apple bans apps that open this functionality behind the carrier’s back.

Not surprisingly, Little Artist Canvas had the same fate. However, for those who managed to download it before it got pulled, the Tethering function should still work.
