Apple has announced the winners of its Apple Design Awards, which recognize outstanding achievement and excellence in iPhone, iPad, and Mac app design.

This year’s Apple Design Awards were awarded to developers whose iPhone, iPad, and Mac apps were listed in the App Store demonstrating attractive design, innovation, and technical excellence.

Categories included Student, iPhone, Mac, and iPad. Without further ado, Apple’s winners are:

The winners received a MacBook Air, iPad 2, iPod touch, and an Apple Design Award trophy.

Chilligo, authors of the ingenious Cut the Rope puzzler, recently announced that it has surpassed 140 million game downloads across iPhone, iPod touch and iPad since the App Store launched in June 2008.

“Partnering with the industry’s most talented developers and having the revolutionary App Store to help distribute their work to the world, has made all of the difference in helping us achieve this staggering milestone,”  Joe Wee, co-general manager, Chillingo, said.

Chillingo is a subsidiary of Electronic Arts and publishes games and software for various platforms, but has a specific focus on Apple’s iOS.

Epic Games, the publisher of Infinity Blade, also issued a press release announcing that earnings from Infinity Blade have surpassed $10 million in the first six months of release.

Infinity Blade is developed by ChAIR Entertainment, whose talented crew has been able to create significant licensing interest in the underlying Unreal Engine 3 technology from other iOS developers.
