Apple Denies Giving Indian Military Backdoor Access

A bunch of leaked documents in India earlier this week revealed that several smartphone makers, including Apple, might have been providing backdoor access to the Indian military to monitor cellular communication.

As soon as news broke out that Apple and other smartphone vendors had allegedly given the Indian military backdoor access for surveillance, the security blogosphere went ablaze.

Equally worried were Apple’s faithful fans and owners of the iPhone handset, who believed their personal information had been compromised.

But Alan Hely, senior director of corporate communications at Apple, recently went on record to deny the allegations made against his employers. He reportedly refused to elaborate on the matter, saying only "…I can deny that backdoor access was provided."
