JP Morgan analyst proposes iAnywhere as the name of this unified OS

Despite Apple telling the press that there are no current plans to converge iOS and OS X into a unified operating system, JP Morgan analyst Mark Moskowitz says the company will release such a hybrid OS, which he calls the “iAnywhere.”

“While not a new idea, our global tech research team believes Apple could be on the cusp of introducing a new category with iAnywhere, a converged MacOS-iOS operating system that allows an iPhone or iPad to dock into a specially configured display to run as a computer,” said Moskowitz.

Both Steve Jobs and Tim Cook have been quoted as dismissing the idea of a touch-centric Mac, and Craig Federighi explained it best in a recent interview with Macworld.

On the other hand, Apple never confirms anything they’re working on, so why would this hybrid OS make an exception, especially if the company feels strongly about its potential. But... iAnywhere?

JP Morgan aims to predict Apple’s software unification two years from now, and all they come up with is “iAnywhere?” I’m surprised they didn’t call it UNIX.
