Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard users can now enjoy updated drivers for their printers, courtesy of a series of new updates released on Monday by Apple, and which includes the necessary software for Brother, Canon, HP, and Lexmark products. According to the company, the new available downloads include the latest printing and scanning software for Snow Leopard for the aforementioned printers.

All the new drivers for Brother, Canon, HP, and Lexmark printers can be installed on Mac OS X v.10.6.1 or later, Apple states, adding that users can update them via the Software Update. In case there are some drivers for printers that have not been installed during the Mac OS X installation process, one can install them through the Software Update, since there are some drivers that can be installed only this way.

The entire list of supported printers or scanners is available on Apple's Support website here. You will find there all the products and driver versions available for Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard. As for the new updates from Apple, the Brother driver has reached version 2.2, the Cannon ones are at 2.2 as well, the HP printer drivers reached version 2.3, while the Lexmark ones are at version 2.1.

All of the new driver packages are available for a free download, weighing between 99.9 MB for the Brother printers to 117 MB for Lexmark, 274.59MB for Cannon, and all the way up to 387.44 MB for HP printers. The new drivers are expected to bring forth additional support for printer and multifunction devices from the aforementioned companies.

All these new releases are tagged as being available starting with November 16.
