German report indicates there’s still some testing to be done internally

Developers testing iOS 5.0.2 internally have been scheduled to carry out more work on the software as it causes apps to drain memory without releasing resources once they’re no longer used.

Macerkopf.de’s sources report that iOS 5.0.2 has been delayed to fix “address-based memory leaks” or bugs that cause the aforementioned misbehavior.

Apple was reportedly on track to launch the software update this week, but said problems pushed the launch date a bit farther. It is unclear what the next ETA is.

What is known, however, is the important role of iOS 5.0.2. The update will be tasked with fixing several serious issues inside the iPhone software, particularly one that has been plaguing iPhone 4S users since the beginning - battery drainage.

Cupertino attempted and failed to fix these problems with iOS 5.0.1, so you can see why the company isn’t taking any chances by releasing iOS 5.0.2 prematurely.
