Apple Cracks Down on Website, Redirects to iPhone Developer Page

- iPhone SDK even closer than we thought

By: Filip Truta, Apple News Editor

Due to the hype surrounding Apple's (come on already!) upcoming SDK for developers, some web folks tried taking a bite too, particularly Tiny-Code.com, who updated their website three days ago saying they were working with Apple's SDK, hinting at firmware 1.1.4. As it turns out, they lied. Apple took 'em down hard too and now redirects us to its iPhone Developer site. SDK?!

According to the Tiny Code.com update on the 16th of February, 2008
(that's three days ago), "Tiny Code no longer produces fixes or applications for firmware 1.1.3. We can't say much, but we are working with Apple and with their SDK for the next firmware release and SDK applications and we shouldn't be missed for long. We will no longer update our Installer.app repo for legality reasons and you should see us soon on iTunes."

And with that post, Tiny-Code struck a cord over in Cupertino. The Tiny Code website now forwards to Apple's iPhone Developer site. Oh, and if you're skeptic about the whole story, here's Macenstein.com's screenshot of the site before it was taken down.

Tiny Code developer Kelly commented on the Mac Rumors Forums claiming that Apple ordered them to take down the website as they had violated their NDA with the Cupertino folks, according to The Unofficial Apple Weblog.

Rather surprising and downright pathetic is the fact that Tiny-Code lied about their relationship with Apple, about the 1.1.4. firmware upgrade, connections with Apple's upcoming software development kit and signing a NDA.

Originally posted by tuaw.com Update: According to a recent Mac Rumors forum post, Kelly, the originator of the thread on the forum (and developer of Tiny-Code), has admitted that he lied about the iPhone 1.1.4 update and SDK information. He writes, "Tiny-Code never had any relations with Apple, Inc. or any other division of Apple. Never had the new firmware or any pre-SDK pack. Certainly never signed any NDA." The full post is hosted on the Mac Rumors forum.
