14 DAY TRIAL // A report from the Wall Street Journal suggests that Apple might have its iTV displays made in the United States, avoiding costly (and potentially risky) shipping from Asia.
Rumors of an Apple-branded HDTV still abound, though there’s little to no evidence that the company is building such a product. However, if it is, industry people believe Foxconn will be the assembler.
The latest news from Foxconn’s boss indicates that Apple might have told the manufacturer to build a new factory on U.S. soil to have TV panels created closer to the mothership, where the iTV would be theoretically designed.

“Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., which assembles gadgets for Apple Inc. and other global technology firms, is evaluating a plan to build an advanced display manufacturing plant in the U.S., its chairman said. [...] In November, the company said it might invest $40 million [€29.2 million] in manufacturing and research facilities in Pennsylvania.”
