Apple has announced the yearly, special one-day shopping event also known as Black Friday, which falls on November 26 this year (just after Thanksgiving). Customers can expect cheaper iPads and iPods, well as Macintosh computers sold at a discount.

“The special one-day Apple shopping event. November 26,” Apple’s announcement reads.

“Come back to the Apple Online Store the day after Thanksgiving for a special one-day-only holiday shopping event. You’ll find dozens of great iPad, iPod, and Mac gifts for everyone on your list,” the company says.

“Mark your calendars now. And until then, get started by browsing the Apple Online Store for great ideas,” Apple’s message ends.

Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, traditionally the beginning of the Christmas shopping season.

The origin of the term is debated. Nowadays, Black Friday is mostly associated with special sales and promotions that retailers use to encourage shoppers to use the holiday weekend for shopping.

Currently, the online Apple store lists the usual pre-Christmas offers, such as free iPod and iPad engravings, signature gift wrapping and more.

The prices for all Apple products are at their usual high right now. The Black Friday deals are not expected to knock anyone’s socks off, with Apple going as low as cutting $100 off more expensive products, like the all-in-one iMac, or $50 off cheaper items like the iPod touch, and the iPad.

This doesn’t mean Apple can’t surprise us this time around.

The iPad will most likely make the most difference this holiday season, with various reports signaling that wish lists in the U.S. are dominated by iDevices, with the iPad sitting atop.

As usual, customers can also stroll in the virtual aisles of the online Apple store looking for various accessories to their existing lineup of Apple devices, although Apple is less likely to offer discounts on those.
