Rumors about the Apple TV shipment being late were confirmed yesterday by Apple officials. Reuters reports: "Wrapping up Apple TV is taking a few weeks longer than we projected,
and we now expect to begin shipments mid-March," spokeswoman Lynn Fox said by email.
About two weeks ago, ThinkSecret sources claimed they had information about the delay of Apple TV shipments until the beginning of March. Apple denied the rumors saying they will deliver the Apple TVs as announced, at the end of February. Oh, but February is such a short month, only 28 days this year. Apple must have thought 2007 is a special year, holding about 45 days in February... The disappointment!
Looks like the Apple TV will be available in the second half of March, not in the beginning, as ThinkSecret thought. Online shoppers that made pre-orders for the device reported that their orders now reflect a March 20 ship-date instead of 28th of February. They must be really disappointed.
There was news of Apple TV displays becoming available starting March 5th. I can now only assume they will ship together with Apple TVs after the 15th of March.
As I was saying yesterday, the first iPhone teaser ad was aired during the Oscars Award Ceremony. The ad said 'Coming in June', after a bunch of 'Hellos' said by famous actors over the phone.
I can't help but think of the ridiculous situation Apple will be in, if they don't manage to launch the device until the end of June. This commercial airing is at least three months before the announced iPhone launch. What will they say on June 30, in that case?
These are, of course, just speculations. I'm sure the iPhone will be ready in time. We already had a glimpse of the device and if Apple says iPhones will be available in June, they know what they're talking about. Right ...?
