The iPod touch has been, and still is, one of Apple’s most popular products

Apple has confirmed to The Loop’s Jim Dalrymple that the company has sold more than 100 million iPod touch units since the player’s introduction in 2007.

Introduced in 2007, the iPod touch has had a remarkable evolution, from what was originally an iPhone without a phone function, to one of the most popular media players on the planet. It’s also one heck of a gaming device, especially with those hundreds of thousands of games accessible from the App Store.

Now pundit Jim Dalrymple reports that “In addition to launching a new model of its iPod touch on Thursday, Apple told me this morning that it has sold more than 100 million units of the iPod touch since its introduction.”

No surprise there, and with the “budget” version released today, its brightest days are probably ahead of it.
