Listings used to say “3 weeks,” indicating a potential surge in demand

Apple is yet to decide what to tell customers when they place an order for the new iPod touch (fifth generation). Same goes for the new seventh-gen nano.

As the Cupertino giant took its web store offline and then back online, Apple fans started looking for any potential changes following the outage.

Eagle eyes at Today’s iPhone spotted a 3-week shipping estimate on the unreleased iPod touch 5G, indicating that Apple planned to roll out the player physically only at the end of this month.

It might just be that customers have ordered so many of these babies that Apple was forced to change the shipping estimate back to “October.” At least that’s what the current listings tell us (screenshot from Apple’s Australian web store above).

The new iPod nano lists the same shipping estimate. Looks like we’re not getting our hands on the colorful new players any time soon.
