During a conference call held earlier today, Apple’s chief executive officer gave analysts a piece of his mind on the company’s cash hoard, as well as hints regarding the product roadmap.

Cook wouldn’t offer any specifics (not that it would have been smart to do so), but he did throw analysts a bone, saying "I am extremely confident in our future. The pipeline is full of stuff. I think customers are going to be incredibly pleased with what they see coming out.”

During his March 7 keynote address, when Apple unveiled the third-generation iPad to the world, Tim Cook dropped a bombshell promising an incendiary 2012. Cook ended his keynote presentation with a slide that featured a horizon with the following message: “2012 - there’s a lot to look forward to.”

This makes two almost identical promises in less than two weeks. One has to wonder whether Cook is dropping hints regarding a truly revolutionary iPhone 5.
