Apple Bluetooth Firmware Update 2.0.1

In tandem with the Hard Drive Firmware Update 2.0 for July 2009 MacBook Pros, Apple has issued a Bluetooth Firmware Update 2.0.1 addressing bugs and compatibility with the company’s wireless mouse and keyboard. About Bluetooth Firmware Update 2.0.1

This update provides bug fixes and better compatibility with the Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse and Apple Wireless Keyboard.

It installs on all Macintosh systems with Bluetooth based on the Broadcom chipset.

Apple regularly updates the internal Bluetooth firmware of its system. These firmware updates provide improvements and better performance when waking the computer from sleep, support for additional key commands during startup, and overall use of the Apple Wireless Mighty Mouse and Wireless Keyboard. Also, users should note that this firmware updater is unsupported on any other Bluetooth modules / devices.

Posted on August 19, 2009, the Apple Bluetooth Firmware Update 2.0.1 is 1.78MB in size and installs on systems running Mac OS X 10.5.7 or later. The current version of Leopard is Mac OS X 10.5.8. Supported languages include (but are not limited to) Deutsch, English, Français, Español, Italiano, Nederlands, Dansk, Norsk Bokmål, Polski, Português, Português Brasileiro, Pусский, Suomi, Svensk, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

Apple also has a Bluetooth Manual (PDF link) online, which provides information on how to pair your Macintosh with a Bluetooth-enabled device, exchange files, and more. For example, you can use the Bluetooth File Exchange application to exchange files between one or more Bluetooth-enabled devices. You can also employ Bluetooth File Exchange to remotely browse these devices. The company also informs customers of a possible interference caused by its Bluetooth-enabled devices that require proper installation (in strict accordance with Apple’s instructions), otherwise they may cause interference with radio and television reception.
