Apple hasn’t killed MobileMe per se, even though it has confirmed that iCloud will be taking its place. What Apple actually did was integrate all the MobileMe services with iCloud, putting them right next to the brand new stuff so customer’s don’t miss a thing.

In fact, Apple not only wants to hold on to some MobileMe services, it actually still maintains them, enhancing their functionality.

In a press release bulk issued June 6, Apple rolled out several exciting announcements, one of which included a detailed overview of iCloud.

The company specifically noted that the former MobileMe services - Contacts, Calendar and Mail - had all been completely “re-architected and rewritten to work seamlessly with iCloud.”

“Users can share calendars with friends and family, and the ad-free push Mail account is hosted at me.com. Your inbox and mailboxes are kept up-to-date across all your iOS devices and computers,” the Mac maker confirmed.

Now, Apple is further attempting to improve existing MobileMe services by beefing up the software engineering team that handles the suite.

Two positions for MobileMe Software Engineer in Santa Clara, California are open, according to Jobs at Apple.

These persons will be tasked primarily with developing world-class applications, in what Apple describes as “a hands-on role in the development of software systems to support existing and new product features.”

Requirements & Experience includes a minimum of 4 years in development of scalable Web 2.0 Applications in Java in a Unix environment, knowledge of HTML, CSS, Javascript, Ajax, JSON, Prototype, Scriptaculous, and many other skills.

A MobileMe Site Support Engineer is also needed, this time in Sacramento.

Specifically, the position is for ISCS MobileMe Site Support Engineer, who is described as “a support agent who possesses a broad range of experience with MobileMe customer issues.”

“It requires advanced knowledge of MobileMe and the support tools available to MobileMe Support advisors,” Apple outlines.

The new recruit will need to be familiar with all the internal policies and procedures that apply to MobileMe Support advisors, as well as keep updated with any changes that may intervene.
