Nonprofit Consumer Reports has released its reader survey of computer technical support, chalking up Apple as king.

In fact, the Cupertino giant actually “bested its own scores from last year's survey and walloped other brand-name computer manufacturers,” the magazine reveals.

It adds that Apple actually scored “far higher” than the other big names in the computer industry. The things Apple excels in (when it comes to online and phone support) are: “ease of contacting staff, clarity of advice, technical knowledge, patience, and time for follow-up.”

Survey respondents who sought phone or online support Windows-based computer makers said their patience, knowledge, and clarity were “fair at best.”

More evidence that running your own show makes for a great experience.
