After submitting updated plans for its up and coming campus in Cupertino, California, Apple Inc. this week began sending out letters to residents of the city asking for their input.

“As at our existing campus on Infinite Loop, we are committed to 100% renewable energy to power Apple Campus 2,” the company states in the mailer.

“This will include onsite generation from photovoltaics and fuel cells. As part of this effort, approximately 8 megawatts of photovoltaics will be installed, creating one the largest installations of its kind on a corporate campus anywhere in the world.”

For those who aren’t familiar with the company’s history, Apple mentions that its very roots are in the city of Cupertino, adding “we are excited to continue to grow here.”

“As we build the new campus, we also plan to invest in new roadways and intersection improvements, add new sidewalks and better bike lanes, and plant new trees in newly created medians in the surrounding neighborhood,” Apple notes.

Having approached Campus 2 with the same level of attention given to every product it sells, Apple asks the residents of Cupertino to provide their thoughts on the project.

Peter Oppenheimer, the company’s Chief Financial Officer, says in the letter, “If you have questions or comments or would like more information about Apple Campus 2, please fill out and return the postage-paid response card included in this mailing.”

The Apple CFO also encourages recipients to visit www.cupertino.org to learn more about its plans.

Apple had initially set a 2015 deadline for the project. Recently the company announced a one year delay. The Mac maker plans to house 13,000 employees in the circular shaped building around the year 2016.
