Power App GmbH has been allowed to sell SysMoni 1.0 in the App Store. As its name implies, SysMoni is a system monitoring tool for iPhone and iPod touch that provides complete activity, system, and hardware monitoring.

“SysMoni 1.0 is a simple, convenient app for getting a look inside at the inner workings of any iPhone or iPod touch,” Christian Schaffner, head of Power App GmbH, said.

In the past, Apple was notorious for rejecting Applications that were too intimate with the inner-workings of the iPhone. Yet, Power App’s SysMoni appears to be a go.

The developer outlines that SysMoni is similar in function to the Mac OS X Activity Monitor application, as its SysMoni provides real-time information about: currently running processes, current OS, CPU usage, IP addresses, disk capacity and usage, memory capacity and usage, bus speed and CPU speed.

Indeed, the app is similar "in function" as it provides a detailed view of vital statistics and parameters normally hidden from the user.

However, the interface is a little rough on the edges, to say the least. Basically, it’s just a black screen filled with figures.

But these figures are useful for the geek who wants to know what is eating away at his iPhone’s battery, or why Angry Birds is experiencing hiccups.

The app is touted as being especially valuable for troubleshooting, as it can easily identify which process may be interfering with others.

Feature highlights include:

- CPU speed - Bus speed - Total memory/free memory - Total and free diskspace - Mac and IP address - CPU information - Operating System information - Currently running processes.

SysMoni 1.0 is not only compatible with iPhone and iPod touch, but also works with the iPad.

The app requires that users have at least iOS 3.2 installed and costs $0.99 (USD) through Apple’s iOS App Store in the Utilities category.
